Sam’s legal career as a commercial and civil litigator began in New York City in 2007. Finding himself at the epicentre of the global financial crises he gained valuable and highly sought-after litigation experience representing various types of clients in the Chrysler LLC, General Motors Corp., and Lehman Brothers Inc. cases. A Toronto native, Sam moved back home in 2011, and worked as a civil, commercial and insurance litigator for four years at a preeminent National law firm and then a boutique Bay Street litigation firm for two years before joining Zayouna Law to head the business litigation and dispute resolution department.
Over his years of experience, Sam has represented individuals, corporations, and partnerships in various commercial litigation and dispute resolution matters, including breach of contract, defamation, professional negligence, negligent misrepresentation, product liability, breach of fiduciary duties, landlord/tenant disputes, condo/developer disputes, construction liens, debtor/creditor disputes including debt recovery, fraudulent conveyance and preferential payments, and injunctive remedies. He also represented insurance companies in various types of insurance defence and subrogation matters.
Prior to practicing law, Sam obtained an MBA and worked in his family business as a furniture manufacturer, designer and retailer which gave him a strong foundation in the areas of finance, operations and strategy. Sam prides himself on being able to use his experience to add value for his clients by being a “problem solver” and someone that understands the practical realities of running a business on a day-to-day basis. Sam is also often consulted by his clients in relation to the negotiation and/or review of various agreements with a view to mitigating legal exposure and risk.
